McKayla Rose Maroney (also known as "Mack Air Maroney") is an American well-known gymnast. She was awarded gold by team US Olympics gymnastics squad and a silver individual medal in the Summer Olympic Games in 2012. In the beginning, she was inspired to learn gymnastics by her parents who were sports enthusiasts. Her forte was vaulting. As the only athlete who has successfully defended her gold medal from the 2011 World Championships, she also won it at the 2013 Championships. The gymnast was unhappy with the silver medal she won for the vault in the 2012 Olympics and was keen to get another shot at gold in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. But due to injuries and other health issues she had to end her career in gymnastics just before when the Olympic Games commenced.
